APPEAL FOLLOWING BURGLARY AND ASSAULT

We’re appealing for information following a reported break-in and assault in Tamworth.

Officers were called to Rothay, Belgrave, shortly before 1.45am on Saturday (19 September) following a report of a man in the back garden of a home trying to force entry.

We attended the scene and spoke to those inside the address to find out more.

The suspect, a man, left the scene before we arrived. It was reported that the suspect had been assaulted during the incident.

A 27-year-old man, from Birmingham, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage to property. He has been interviewed in custody and bailed with conditions while our enquiries continue.

We believe this is an isolated incident and an investigation is ongoing.
